Fit for purpose

With a top surface that is waterproof, heat resistant and can readily be wiped clean, and a soft, synthetic fleece underside, this table top protector serves its function well. In my case it also serves to cover blemishes arising from times past when the table was not adequately protected. And it provides a smooth, level surface suitable for use with a computer mouse - in all, it's a giant mouse mat! The total depth of the mat is about 4mm.It can be cut to fit any size and shape of table, but be warned that it isn't the easiest material to cut straight, and that at a minimum you will need a large pair of sharp scissors, and ideally a Stanley knife and steel straight-edge too. And do first carefully measure and mark where you intend to cut; don't just try to cut around the table. (Keep the business end of the Stanley knife will away from the table, floor and carpets too.) Odd pieces that are large enough can be further cut to shape as place mats, coasters, etc. [These instructions may seem out of place in a review, but don't come with the table protector as delivered, and perhaps should.]Mine has been installed for more than two months now, and so far so good. I will report further if any problems arise, but having past experience with two such table covers - between them accounting for most of my life so far - I don't expect any.

Heavy Duty?

Although the size and finish were satisfactory, I am not sure about the 'heavy duty' rating. This product is approx. 3mm thick whereas my old similar table protector was 5mm thick.
