Poor quality

I don't really like giving 1 star reviews, but I can't really justify being any more generous. If some of my points seem overly picky it's just that I want people to have a full picture and make their own mind up.The table I received had a number of problems with both the quality of manufacture and the delivery/return process.Of the four support pieces under the table, three were made of a single piece, but the fourth was made of two pieces joined together - except they weren't joined at all. This affected the look of the table, but more worryingly allowed the legs to spread apart. This is an unnecessary cost cutting measure at any price, but particularly when the description states "The sturdy build means it will last for years to come."The veneer did not join well at the edges, so would have constantly scraped anyone leaning on the edge of the table. Wherever the edge would be obscured from normal view instead of being cut neatly it looked more like it had been ripped - not particularly a problem, but another indication that the manufacturers are using scraps to make the table and the quality is likely to be inconsistent at best.One of the bolts was unusable and the holes drilled into the legs were of an imprecise size which meant that getting the fixings to line up was a case of trial and error. The 'wooden' legs are actually chipboard - probably perfectly sturdy (if properly attached!), but the description is misleading nonetheless.My 'oak' table arrived in a box marked 'ash'. To tell the truth, without seeing the two shades side by side I couldn't tell you if the table itself was wrong. Whether they just used whatever box was handy, or picked the wrong box I don't honestly know, but taken in context with all the above shows a consistent lack of attention. And yes, I should have spotted this before opening the box and building the table!The delivery method was appalling (bear in mind that the table is only available from one seller) - unsecured in an unmarked transit van with just one delivery person. It's a good job I'm not an 80 year old woman (for many reasons!!!) as we would have been stuck. On both delivering and collecting, the same delivery person was surprised that the contents of the van had moved! Obviously this person is not going to deliver to every location, so this may not be a problem elsewhere.Finally, I found the response time from Worldstores a little slower than I would have liked, but in fairness, they did take the table back.In my opinion, whatever the price, the table did not meet even a very basic standard.
